The Clipped Wings United Airlines Stewardess Alumnae and Flight Attendants, Inc. was founded in Chicago in 1941. Clipped Wings has 26 chapters throughout the nation. The Chicago chapter participated in the first International Games held at Soldier Field in Chicago July 19 and 20, 1968. Special Olympics is Clipped Wings’ National Philanthropy project. Clipped Wings supports Special Olympics by donating money to the parents of athletes so they may attend games. It also volunteers at International and National games. The Miami Southeast Sunbird (MIA) chapter was founded in 2003. Under the guidance of Michelle Leonardo, MIA chapter members volunteer in several sporting events in Broward County.
